we are still planning the South/North dakota Trip and your guide is very helpful in planning the Black Hills/Badland Trip
Many thanks to Matt and Cheryl for their insightful tips on how to tour the Black Hills area. So glad I took advice to attend evening ceremony at Mount Rushmore. Was so patriotic and inspirational. It was nice to walk presidents trail in the evening rather than in the heat of the midday. Thank you for convincing us to drive wild loop at Custer State Park, 2 tired of feeding donkeys walked away from us, but we saw a huge herd of bisons at sunset, it was majestic! Some experienced people were eating their picnic supper at one of the scenic pullouts with the sunset view, next time I am doing just that! We got to tour Jewel cave – lovely underworld, amazing ranger guided tour. Thank you for the advice to book in advance! Thank you for the tip to be at Sylvan lake parking early ( 9 am was early enough, we were among first people to rent kayaks). We combined our Badlands drive through with the visit to Wall Drugs ( .50c coffee was great! We enjoyed all the fun photo props). Minute Man Missile Visitor Center was a worthy stop. Little kids had a blast at prairie dog town near Cactus Flat exit. The sod house homestead was closed this year. We went on a walk with ranger Lydia and the kids found fossils! Sunset at Pinnacles overlook was beautiful. It was overall a very beautiful trip, fun, educational, patriotic, beautiful vistas, diverse landscape, lots of wildlife and all these pictures with presidents at Rapid City! We stayed at Harrington House in Rapid City. It was an amazing home base. Thank you Matt and Cheryl for helping to plan such an amazing trip. It was a 10 star trip on its own. We combined it with Yellowstone bcz there ware guests from Europe with us and we wanted to show them the best of America, but it was a bit too much, in my opinion 4-5 days in Black hills is a wonderful vacation. The printed guide was with us all the time and the audios about US presidents were great history lessons that we all enjoyed listening to while driving between the stops. Was worth every penny we spent on them and I think we saved tons of time and money thanks to Matt and Sheryl advices. Keep up great work and thank you for convincing us to venture West! With “We are in the Rockies” it was easy and pleasure trip.
Have not vacationed yet but there is a ton of information in these books.
We’ve purchased several of these guides. All have been very helpful in planning and understanding before we embark on the vacation. Having never been to Mount Rushmore or the area, it was especially helpful to see the highlights of the area, places for eating, getting tickets, and lodging, during planning and while on the road. We’ve listened to their audio tracks also. Very informative, as if we had a guide in the car with us.
Just ending our week in Rapid City, following along with your Black Hills itinerary we purchased! We found the guide to be extremely helpful and full of great recommendations! We always check utube for your videos before each of our road trip adventures as retirees. They are always so helpful!!! This time we had 10 yr old granddaughter with us…so really appreciated all your kid friendly tips on this trip!
